Addison has arrived!

Addison Powell Cassidy
6 lbs. 13 oz 19 1/2 inches

Addison decided to make her debut early as her due date was the 13th! I had been to the doctor on Monday for an ultrasound, and they hooked me up to a fetal monitor to check her movement and heart rate. Everything looked great, but she did not want to cooperate and show her breathing, so Dr. Simpson wanted me to go back on Tuesday so they could see it...just to be on the safe side. We had been discussing inducing, so she and I would have enough time to recuperate and he asked me if we wanted to do it on TUESDAY! I wasn't so sure about this, so I kept thinking about it. Well, all day Tuesday my back was hurting(which was starting to make my decision about inducing more realistic!) but I didn't think anything of it. It was finally time for my doctors appointment...after a long day at work....and Addison decided to cooperate and show us her breathing. While I was hooked up to the monitor, I had a few contractions. I had been wondering how I would know the difference between Braxton Hicks contractions and the real thing, and these were feeling different, but then again I didn't take it seriously.
When I was done I called Dick and my mom and told them everything was fine! Mama and I stayed on the phone on and off the rest of the afternoon as the contractions continued. I started keeping up with how far apart they were, but they weren't close enough for me to be concerned yet. Of course mama continued to ask me if she needed to go ahead and come to Columbus just in case, so we debated on that until the contractions started to get stronger and closer together. I began to think that this could be the real thing, so I called the doctor to ask his opinion. He said the only way to know if this was true labor was for me to come in and get checked at the hospital. I called mama back and she decided she was going to start packing to head this way. I called Dick next and told him what had been going on. He said "give me an hour" and I will head that way. (good thing the contractions weren't too painful at that time, or else that statement would not have gone over to well ;-) ) I packed our bags and had them ready so when Dick got home, we would be ready to go! We got to the hospital and they checked to see if I had made any progress, and I was already 3cm dilated!! They were getting my room ready and checking me in! We couldn't believe it! Dick started making phone calls to everyone to let them know that I was there to stay as Mama (grandma) was already on her way.
After a long night, Addison made her arrival March 6th, at 4:34 A.M. weighing 6lbs 13 oz 19 1/2 inches long.
